Documents Needed to Sell a Car in Singapore: Complete Checklist

Singapore's vehicle ownership transfer is handled through LTA's OneMotoring portal. The process is largely digital, but having the right information ready prevents delays.

Essential Documents and Information

  • Vehicle log card: The primary ownership document. Available via OneMotoring (lta.gov.sg). Buyer and seller access the digital record through SingPass.
  • SingPass / Corppass: Both buyer and seller need SingPass to authorise the online transfer via OneMotoring.
  • COE expiry date: Must be disclosed to the buyer. COE details are on the log card.
  • PARF and COE rebate values: Confirm the current rebate amounts via OneMotoring — buyers factor this into their offer.
  • Outstanding hire purchase documentation: If the vehicle is under finance, obtain a settlement letter and confirm with the financier before listing.

LTA Transfer Process

The transfer is completed on OneMotoring — both parties log in with SingPass and authorise the transfer. The transfer fee is paid by the buyer. Complete the transfer before handing over keys and payment — or agree a simultaneous exchange at an LTA-approved inspection centre.

Cancel Insurance

Contact your insurer to cancel the policy once transfer is complete. Request a refund for unused premium. Singapore requires continuous insurance — do not cancel before the transfer is fully executed.

Road Tax Refund

If you have prepaid road tax beyond the sale date, apply for a refund via OneMotoring. The system calculates the refund for the unexpired months automatically.
