Turkish buyers have access to detailed accident and insurance records through the tramer system. Understanding what they'll find — and disclosing it proactively — prevents deals collapsing at the notary stage.
What Buyers Check
- Tramer (Trafik Sigortaları Bilgi Merkezi) report: Turkey's insurance information centre maintains records of all insurance claims. Buyers can purchase a tramer report to see all past accident claims associated with the vehicle. This is the most important history check in Turkey.
- Traffic registration records: Via the government's e-devlet portal, buyers can verify ownership history, current plate, and registration status.
- Muayene (inspection) status: Buyers verify the roadworthiness inspection is current and when it was last passed.
- Outstanding traffic fines (ceza): Unpaid fines are associated with the plate number — buyers check this via e-devlet before committing.
Disclosing Accident History
Turkey's tramer system means accident and insurance claim history is accessible and accurate. Attempting to hide accidents is ineffective — buyers will find them. Disclose all incidents proactively; sellers who do this build trust and close deals faster.
Clear Outstanding Fines Before Listing
Pay all outstanding traffic fines (trafik cezaları) associated with the vehicle before listing. Buyers see these as a liability and will either not proceed or deduct the amount from their offer.
Run the Checks Yourself First
Purchase a tramer report on your own vehicle and check your fines status via e-devlet before listing. Being able to share a clean report proactively builds immediate buyer confidence.
