We multiply your daily distance (km) by the EV's energy use (kWh/100km) to get the energy consumed per trip, then multiply by your electricity rate (cents/kWh). This gives a cost-per-day figure scaled to weekly and annual totals. Home off-peak rates in Australia typically run 20–35 cents/kWh.

State of Health is the percentage of original battery capacity still available. A new EV is 100% SoH; after several years of use it may drop to 85–90%. Below 75–80% you will notice a meaningful reduction in range. Most manufacturers cover battery degradation under warranty for 8 years or 160,000 km — check the specific car's warranty terms.

A standard 7–10 kW home wall box adds roughly 40–60 km of range per hour. A DC fast charger (50–350 kW) can bring a depleted pack to 80% in 20–45 minutes depending on the car. Most Australian EV drivers charge overnight at home and use public fast chargers only on longer trips.
