Terms & Conditions

1. About Car Spot

Car Spot is an online marketplace that connects private car sellers, professional dealers and garages with people looking to buy or service a vehicle. Creating a standard listing is free; some features are optional and paid (see “Fees” below). By accessing or using car-spot.io you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Car Spot, and you must use the platform in a country where Car Spot is available. By creating an account you confirm that you meet these requirements. Any vehicle you list must be legally owned by you, or you must have the owner’s authority to sell it.

3. Professional and Business Accounts

Some accounts are for professional or business use, including motor dealers and garages. If you use Car Spot on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are authorised to act for it, and you additionally agree to:

  • Provide accurate details about your business and keep them up to date
  • Comply with all laws that apply to trading vehicles or providing motor services in your market, including consumer-protection and advertising rules
  • Honour the descriptions, availability and pricing shown in your listings and profile

Business features may be offered on a subscription or pay-per-use basis. The applicable plan, price and billing cycle are shown to you before you subscribe, and subscriptions continue until cancelled in line with the plan terms.

4. Creating a Listing

When listing a vehicle you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information about the vehicle
  • Only list vehicles you own or have authority to sell
  • Upload only photos of the actual vehicle being sold
  • Set a fair and genuine asking price
  • Remove or mark the listing as sold promptly once the vehicle is sold

Car Spot reserves the right to remove any listing that violates these terms or that we reasonably consider to be misleading, fraudulent, or inappropriate.

5. Buyer and Seller Responsibilities

Car Spot is a platform only. We are not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers. You are solely responsible for:

  • Carrying out appropriate due diligence before buying or selling a vehicle
  • Verifying the vehicle’s history, ownership, and condition
  • Arranging payment securely and safely
  • Complying with all applicable laws relating to the sale of vehicles

We strongly recommend independently verifying a vehicle’s history, ownership and any outstanding finance before completing a purchase — for example, in the United Kingdom, by checking the vehicle against the DVLA and carrying out an HPI check, and using the equivalent official registration and history-check services in your own country.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You must not use Car Spot to:

  • List vehicles that are stolen, clocked, or have outstanding finance
  • Make false or misleading representations
  • Engage in fraudulent activity of any kind
  • Harass or abuse other users
  • Post spam or unsolicited commercial messages
  • Scrape or harvest data from the platform

7. Fees

Creating and publishing a standard listing on Car Spot is free, and we do not charge private sellers commission on the sale of their vehicle. We also offer optional paid features — for example, premium placement for a listing, and subscription plans and additional services for professional dealers and garages.

Any fees, and the features they cover, are shown to you clearly before you pay. Paid features are governed by these terms together with any additional terms presented at the point of purchase. Prices may be shown in different currencies depending on your market.

8. Intellectual Property

By uploading photos or content to Car Spot you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content on our platform for the purpose of promoting your listing. You retain ownership of your content and may remove it at any time by deleting your listing.

9. Limitation of Liability

Car Spot provides the platform on an “as is” basis. We do not verify the accuracy of listing information provided by sellers. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Car Spot shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from transactions between buyers and sellers, or from your use of the platform.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Data, Fraud Prevention & Security

To protect our users and keep the marketplace safe, Car Spot collects and processes certain technical information when you create an account and use the service — including device and browser details, network information (such as a one-way, irreversibly hashed form of your IP address), and how you use the platform. How we handle personal data more generally is described in our Privacy Policy.

We use this information to detect and prevent fraud, spam, scams and abuse, to secure your account, and to comply with our legal obligations. This processing is carried out on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping Car Spot safe and secure, and where required by law. We retain it only for as long as necessary for these purposes. Messages sent through the platform may also be monitored, including by automated tools, for these safety purposes.

We use automated systems, including AI-based tools, to help verify accounts and prevent spam, bots, and fake or duplicate registrations, and to detect fraud, scams and abuse — including when accounts are created and verified, and in messages and other interactions between users. Where our systems indicate a risk to the marketplace, these checks may, for example, delay or hold a message for review, or prevent an account from being created. Where such a check materially affects you, you can contact us to request that a person reviews the decision.
