Always request a battery health report showing State of Health (SoH) — look for 75–80% or above. Verify the RC (Registration Certificate) and check the vehicle's hypothecation status. We multiply your daily distance (km) by the EV's energy use (kWh/100km), then multiply by your electricity rate (₹/kWh). Indian domestic electricity tariffs vary by state and slab — typically ₹5–10/kWh for residential consumers. EVs charged at home are significantly cheaper to run than petrol or diesel cars.

State of Health is the percentage of original battery capacity still available. A new EV is 100% SoH; after several years it may fall to 85–90%. Below 75–80% you will notice a meaningful loss of range. Most manufacturers in India provide 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty — verify the remaining warranty period when buying used.

A standard 3.3 kW AC charger (included with most Indian EVs) adds roughly 15–20 km of range per hour. A 7.2 kW wall box doubles this. Bharat DC fast chargers (15–50 kW) and CCS fast chargers at Tata Power, EESL and other networks can bring a depleted pack to 80% in 40–90 minutes depending on the car.
